CLASSES & PRACTICAS CONTINUE THROUGHOUT THE SUMMER WITHOUT A BREAK-HOORAY!!!!

Beginners Level 1

This class is suitable for those who have done the complete beginners Saturday workshop, or those who are absolute beginners. We will explore and revise the basic principles of Tango, including the salida, pasito milonguero and ocho’s. We will focus on the concepts of leading and following, and how to improvise to the music whilst maintaining elegance and flow. In no time at all you will be using the lyrical language of the dance and having fun!

Improvers

This class will start to develop and explore more complex figures, including ocho’s, giro’s, sacada’s and caminata’s, whilst continuing to revise the basic principles of tango. This means focusing on the concepts of leading and following, how to improvise to the music whilst maintaining elegance and flow. Suitable for those who have completed at least 5 beginners sessions. Elegant posture, clarity of leadership and sensuality in all steps will be highlighted!

Intermediate

This class is for the more experienced dancer, with its focus on improved technique, effortless decorations and exciting new steps suitable for the social dance floor. We will explore both the open and close embrace, as well as musicality and, as always, elegance and style.

Technique Class

This is a popular class, and is a wonderful opportunity for men and women. This includes learning how to focus on all the many details in simple walking and turning excersizes, which can refine and enhance all aspects of this dance. Ladies learn how to dance sensually and elegantly, whilst still finding moments to decorate and add your own interpretation to the lead. We will focus on how to do the simple walk, ocho’s, giro’s, boleo’s and gancho’s with delicious fluidity and style!
Men can gain many fundamental technique’s common to both leader and follower. They will also gain essential insight into how to allow for ladies decorations, and encourage them as well as developing their own decorations.

For the above classes No need to book, just turn up!

People most welcome to come with a partner or independently – you will have the choice to stay dancing with your partner or to practice with others in the group.

Please bring leather-soled shoes – this will help when turning. Women can bring high heeled shoes or other shoes that are comfortable but also with leather soles.

Tango Ball/ Milonga

Tango South London is delighted to announce its new Once- a -Month Milonga (Tango social dance/ball), where everyone can dance with each other, enjoy a drink at the bar, watch tango performances and listen to the sweet strains of the Tango music.

Open Level Dance class There will be a general level Tango class.This class will focus on learning the Milonga -a tango music & dance with a more fixed rhythmic pattern. Some say The Milonga was the precursor to the Tango, with a stronger African influence. Come and enjoy learning this playful and upbeat version of Tango!

Milonga/BALL After the class, there will then be dancing for all.

Private lessons

This is a wonderful way to progress your Tango quickly and thoroughly, at all levels. Whether dancing as a leader or follower, Claire will tailor each lesson in order to give you the confidence and skills to further your social dancing, hone your style or just have an hour to lose yourself in the dance at a deeper level. One-off sessions available, as well as a discount per 5 sessions booked.

These take place in STUDIO HA/LF, a lovely new studio as seen in channel 4’s ‘Grand Designs’.

Wedding Dance Lessons

For that nerve wracking first dance, a series of 5 private lessons that will give you the steps and the confidence to dance the tango at your wedding. After going through some of the basic principles, you will learn a short choreography that can easily be repeated in different ways. The tango is ideal as it combines sexiness and intimacy.

Absolute Beginners Intensive – A 1 day Taster Introduction

Learn the basic language of Tango in a day- a chance to whet your appetite and see just how addictive this dance can be. You will learn about leading, following, musicality and the embrace. By the end of the day you will be able to improvise and enjoy some Tango steps.

After this workshop, you may want to join the beginners Level 1.
